Aussie Update

Here is an update of some stuff I've done recently at Queensland College of Art.
In my jewellery making class I learned how to solder, use a jeweller's saw, and polish.

That is what I did... I don't know what it is but I like it. A little copper trinket.

In painting class today we started off by doing figure studies with acrylic paint

This is an oil painting I've worked on in two classes... So a total of 7 hours. We only had the model for those two days, so I'm going to call this finished.

Paintings I should've posted long ago...

Here are a couple paintings that I did at the end of last year. I finally took pictures of them.

This one is about 4 1/2 feet tall. Her head is as big as my torso. It's overwhelming.
It's a painting of a club kid named Jenny Talia.

This is a painting response to an article I read in National Geographic about the State Fair. State fairs are weird. I don't remember how big it is...

They're both oil paintings on canvas.

Progress

I've been working on some new paintings recently... I have yet to take pictures.

I will take pictures soon though! I also should probably post my final projects from last semester from painting class. They turned out alright.

Here's a cool video of Nosaj Thing that I really like. It's a shame I had to miss this show because of weather...

ENJOY!

Collective Narcissism: Self portraits from Painting 1

Here's the poster(s) I designed for my Painting 1's self portrait show that we put up in the CFA today! I will post a picture of my painting soon.

I liked the vertical version better but the class majority liked the horizontal version better. OH WELL.

Painting 1.. The ones I like so far..

This one is a painting that is a close-up section of a brown leaf... studying texture..

This one is my most recent finished painting... It's my master study of Chuck Close's Leslie. It's not anywhere near an exact reproduction, but I'm pretty happy with it.

oh... and it's a lot redder than the original because my printshop copy was a lot redder than the original; I just went with it.
